Interesting. Conditions have changed in a v short time. Not all that long ago, e publication was not considered resume worthy. Of course, for the 25 to 30 quality zines, publication has always been difficult. So partly the answer is where are you applying. Smiles. Hi M, It's an interesting debate at a number of levels that I won't go into here, but one thing that has stuck in my mind might be worth raising. It seems to me that perhaps the only thing lacking in the online options is the absence of an ISSN/ISBN number or equivalent. This seems still to hold some currency at key levels. For example, for some years I have had a passing interest in ways and means of accessing Arts grant funding to enable me to concentrate on writing or self publishing more, and impact of costs on my finances less. Haven't done anything about it yet, partly at least because among the criteria was one that sought evidence of publication an at least 20 ISSN or ISBN registered publications. Online doesn't offer that, I don't think. Cheers, Frank Cheers, Frank

Frank--that's not necessarily true. For example, the online quarterly issues of Amaze--the Cinquain journal have an ISSN. best, ljc Once in a Blue Muse Blog LJCohen

You're right of course, Lisa. There are a few and the numbers grow. Cheers, Frank

Wierdest thing. I was checking out some online zines on Duotrope and came across one that had a 68% acceptance rate. Had to check it out. After browsing a bit I realized something strange. Over 40% of the current Poetry and Fiction content was written by the editors themselves. What kind of zine does that? I want either less corruption, or more chance to participate in it. ~Ashleigh Brilliant

Will, are you sure that wasn't Duotripe you were using as a resource? |
