Dearest Membership -- we just wanted to make you aware of a small change here at Wild that could have bigger implications for you. Until today, all of Wild has been open to public reading with the exception of the THERAPEUTIC TOUCH (Adult Content) forum. Today, we just added ELECTROMAGNETISM (Archive Forum) to the category of forums here at Wild which you need a membership to access for reading. To get a general idea of why we did this, please familiarize yourself with the on-going discussion in this thread: Some Clarification on an IBPC Issue Basically, the Archive forum will still be available to you as it always has been. No special password is required. The only difference you might notice is that the forum listing on the main page now has a locked symbol next to it. No one outside of Wild's membership will be able to access the Archive forum and its contents. Anyone doing a search on one of your poem titles that you've posted here at Wild through a search engine like Google, will still get the listing, but when they click on it, they will receive a 404 Not Found error message and the link will not be displayed. What this means to you is that you can now freely submit your poems that have been workshopped here at Wild with no worries that your work would be called ineligible for publishing because it is displayed publicly on the net for anyone to read. Also, there will be less exposure for you in the realm of plagiarism. Since only Wild members will be able to access this material, outsiders will not have the ability to come along and copy anything they choose. Should anyone (your family, friends, etc.) want to read the work in the archives, all they have to do is sign up for membership, which is a relatively easy procedure. We do screen new membership applications. This change has been made for your protection. However, I just want to make it clear that anything posted on any of the other forums (with the exception of the two locked ones) is still available for public reading. So, you will want to take that into account when timing your submissions to those publishers you have targetted who are sensitive to this issue. We normally archive on a monthly basis. Which means that the poems and work you post on the other forums will be put in lockdown and away from public viewing approximately 30 days after you post it. For publications that have no restrictions concerning poems displayed in workshops, this is a non-issue and you can probably feel comfortable submitting while the work is still "live." If anyone has any questions or comments about this, please feel free to post them in this thread or write to us at adminwpf@wildpoetryforum.com. Thanks all for your attention. Love, M (Administrator) |

I did find that to look at a thread, I actually had to log in a total of four times, even though I have enable cookies set. "I tried to reach the muse, but I only got the call centre" (quote from my son)

Dearest Ros -- steve and I are trying to duplicate your problem on our end so we can give you advice on how to fix it, but neither of us is having this trouble. When we log out, we only have to log in once and all the locked forums (and the threads in those forums) are available to us without having to log in continuously. And it seems brenda is having no difficulties either. So, at this point, we don't know what the problem is other than it seems to be isolated to you and your computer. And we would have to be working on your computer to determine what that problem is. All we can say for certain is that it's probably not Wild since you are the only one. Use the Log Out function at the upper-right hand corner of your screen. Close down the window. Then open a new window and come back here to Wild again. Use the Log In function in the same place to log back in and see what happens. If you still experience this difficulty, you'll need to detail exactly what you did and exactly how the system responded for us to be able to attempt to help you long distance. Very sorry for the inconvenience. Love, M |

Just in case you're wondering if others are having trouble getting in, everything worked fine for me. *Kathy You're invited to: Wild Flowers Poetry is a way of taking life by the throat.--Robert Frost

I do have to log into the locked forums separately to read them, but only once, not 4 times as Ros experienced Lisa England

Yes, if you leave Wild and close your window, you will most likely have to log in to the locked forums when you return, as Lisa found out. The reason you could access everything without logging in, Judy, is most likely because you were already logged in in the first place. Once you've logged in, you're in and you shouldn't have to keep doing it repeatedly to access every thread. I see that Ros still hasn't come back to let us know what is happening. Are you still having trouble, Ros? You can always write to us privately (adminwpf@wildpoetryforum.com) if you can't log in to respond on this thread. Love, M |

I'm still here :-) but I've only just read your comments. I've tried logging out and in again to access Electromagnatism, and it is still happening: I get the private discussion message first and then on every thread and post. I always have to enter username and password to post any comment - is this normal? Not to worry too much - I don't log into Electro very often at present. Sorry for being a party pooper, Judy. So, I amend my original statement. You are omnipotent and that's why everything at Wild works for you. *LOL* Ros, you shouldn't have to log in on every thread and post. Take a look-see at the following information: Log-In See if that might help. I still feel it's something about the settings on your computer since it is happening only to you at the moment. I'll continue to research. Thanks for your patience. Love, M |
