Dear Poetry Aficionados, Poetry & Poets in Rags America has its first National Ambassador for Young People's Literature. This is our headliner. And this news comes in a week when The Times ranks Great Britains 50 greatest writers since WWII. The same week Reporters Without Borders issues its Press Freedom Roundup 2007. This week we also have remarkable articles on remarkable poets, poetry included, and more than the usual number of poems in Poetic Obituaries. We have a new Great Regular this week: Fatima Bhutto, a poet who writes her column for The News in Pakistan. She gives us not only a poetic voice, but a political one from that part of the world. East of her, Great Regular V Sundaram, our long-time voice from India, brings us two articles. Asian voices are so important to our world remaining rounded and not warped. Thus the urgency of the our Back Page article from RSF, from which we learn that China, which borders both their countries, shuts down more internet discussion forums than any other country. Thanks for reading. Yours, Rus Our links: IBPC: Poetry & Poets in Rags Poetry & Poets in Rags blog IBPC Home IBPC Newswire ~~~~~~~~~~~ |
