What a great picture of Lady M and Theresa. We should have a little gallery of photos here for all our Wilders. (Yeah right, as if you need more stuff to do!) Great photos of all.

I'm still hoping for that live "Wild" party one day...

Thanks so much Jane, E, and Ann. Aw, don't let the faces fool you. You know what's best about all o' us? We is really smart too. Yup, yup -- we is!

Hey, E -- we already have a photo album (or the start of one, at least) here in the NATUROPATHY (Library) forum:

Group Readings

As others post pics of their readings and meetings, we'll archive them too.

Oh, and we haven't given up on that idear of a live Wild party. We just have to figure out a way to fly everybody out to a central location and find a place to house them all. steve and I are thinkin' maybe some mansion somewhere we can rent for a weekend of poetry readings. Looks like we gotta rob us a bank, huh?

M showed her face? It may be that the aliens are near.

As for that old guy with her in the first picture, deep inside he is young and full of rhyme and verse. The camera - one got from Derf - lies...

The Moonday pics are betta, ya betcha...

Okay M Dearest, I'm ready to pitch in my shekels on request. No need to rent a mansion....we'll just book some rooms at a neat hotel and then have a wild reading at a Portland bookstore near you... Or how about a houseboat in Seattle Gar?

I have a feature in Seattle in May by the way... I'll be post something on it later.

Whoever shows up, gets a drink of their choice on me (well not on me, maybe next to me :-)

Thanks for stopping in for a look-see, brenda and Chris!

That's not my face, Mr. B. That's my face with carefully applied paint and wallpaper (not to mention gobs of hair dye). If people ever saw my actual face, I'm afraid there'd be riots in the streets. *LOL* Oh, and stop calling that gentleman in the pic with me an "old guy" like it's some sort of insult. He's distinguished! *grin*

Keep your skekels, E and Mr. B. Really it's not the costs of the venue that concerns me. It's trying to subsidize airplane tickets and rooms for those Wild members who wish to come, but don't have the funds. The problem with holding this shindig on one coast or the other is that people on the opposite side can't afford to get there.

The problem with getting a low- or no-cost site is that you still have to pay to house people. The reason we were thinking mansion or something similar is that if the place had bedrooms, we could all bunk there too in addition to using it for the party and the readings. We had a weekend extravaganza in mind.

I've been thinking about this for nearly as many years as Wild has been in existence. In fact, about seven years ago we got very close to putting a plan together (we organized a committee and people were bantering ideas back and forth and even came up with a site location and dates), but it all fell apart because the people who were too far away geographically couldn't afford it. It was difficult to hear the true regret in people voices when they realized they'd miss out on the meeting.

No good alternatives have yet occurred to steve and me (yes, he and I brainstorm about this often behind the scenes) that would open the party up to as many Wild members as possible since we're spread out all over the globe. Every time some of us get together, the others who can't swing it financially always express their sadness that they couldn't be in on the fun. And those of us who are there always say, "Don't you wish this-one and that-one was here." And that makes me sad.

steve and I just wish we could figure out a way to make Wild financially solvent. Then she could subsidize her own members who truly have an interest in attending. No one should be excluded simply because of funds. We haven't given up yet. We will figure something out. Where there is a will, there is a way (or so they tell me).

Love,
M

This is fun. I like seeing the face that goes with the name/written voice.

M, no need to be sorry. You didn't hurt my eyes at all.

Steve, somehow I pictured darker hair and no glasses.

Gary, I've seen your pic before.

Teresa, not what I imagined at all.

It's funny how we imagine people to look.

How about an auction of some kind? People could donate things on ebay and then the proceeds could go toward the airfares?

I am just floating some ideas.

I had a near death experience this week. I choked on some food and could not breathe. Everything was going black and I nearly passed out in the hall. All I could do was gesture for help. An attorney had to give me the Heimlich. He saved my life! A half an hour later and no one would have been here!

It seems kinda funny in hindsight but at the time I thought "Is this how I'm going to go?"

So that's to say life can pull the plug anytime and I would really love to meet more of you! I think I've met the most Wilders so far :-)

Geez, E! That's scary! You've got to be more careful (as if you didn't know that). I send my blessings to the attorney and the Heimlich. And I'm so sorry you had to go through this experience. Though perhaps distance from the situation and more of that hindsight thing might reveal more about why it happened to you.

I choked a few months ago when trying to swallow a much-too-large pill. It wouldn't come up or go down, and though I could still breathe, when I tried to swallow some water to force the pill to move, the water just came back up (but not the pill). So, I know how upsetting and frightening this is. I hope this won't have any long-term, emotional effects on you.

If no one is around, dial 911 from a landline (cells are no good in this case as they can't be traced). Even if you can't speak, don't hang up. Emergency services can trace the call and will send someone to check whether it was an actual emergency or a crank call.

Thanks for the suggestion about the auction. I think that's a pretty good idea, and will put it in the suggestion box. Yep, life can pull the plug at any moment. Now, promise me you'll be more careful!

Love,
M

Hello Dear,

Thank you for reading my little note. Yes I actually am not very interested in steak for awhile....

Emotionally that kind of thing causes a great deal of reflection. Am I doing enough? Being enough? Caring enough? I am fortunate in that my beliefs will help me to move forward through this experience to a better place.

That's very frightening about the pill. Geez can you cut the pill in half? Also there is a method where they say to push gut into the edge of a chair (sounds painful) to dislodge something in one's throat in the event one is alone. I work on the 41st floor downtown so by the time someone would get to me... I will be more careful. Again your soothing words and concern are the balm I need.

E

In my experience of you, dearheart, I must say that you are being enough, doing enough, and caring enough. What I think you might not be is careful enough. *smile* Which I wasn't when I was trying to swallow that pill. In too much of a hurry and distracted. So probably were you with that steak. I think this is the universe's way of saying we need to slow down. *grin*

Yes, the 41st floor may seem an impossible obstacle, but you'd be surprised how fast EMTs can move. I was always calling them (living with a diabetic resulted in a lot of calls to 911). I would apologize for having to call. They would always tell me they'd rather receive an emergency call, go to the location, only to find they weren't needed rather than to have people NOT call and find out by reading in the paper the next day that someone died. Call first, and then keep fighting. Yes, throw your upper body against a hard surface. While you're doing that, they're on their way. You can survive without air (without brain damage) for about 4 minutes; some people have gone much longer. Emergency response times are normally around that long, believe it or not. I was always shocked by how quickly they showed up. It didn't seem physically possible. I think they must had had wings or teleporters or something. *LOL*

Yes, I cut the pills in half now. And I suggest that you cut up your steak into miniscule pieces from now on. And eat in very public places, not at your desk on the 41st floor. Know any good ground floor restaurants? *grin*

Love,
M

Yes Gar, Derf on 42 but I didn't have my Page-A-Poet on me,

Lovey, I had these little plastic forks and knives that wouldn't let me cut my steak down. How silly. And yes, I was hurrying, eating while I was working. You are right, a slow down is in order. I will keep your good advices with me. I have to tell you a story that I was told (you know the next day at the office, everybody has to have one). One of the attorney's friends was a doctor, trained in ER. He was at the restaurant with his wife when she suddenly began choking on her food, he jumped up and went for her with a knife (to do a trachiatomy), her eyes popped out of her head and so did the food. He says this is a true story. Another story, about someone who died because no one new how to do the Heimlich. We should all know eh?

Okay love, I've been scolded good. Thank you. I feel better! I'll cut my steak, you cut your pills and who knows, I'll probably trip over a carpet next. LOL.

Dear wild poets, SOOO NICE to see your pictures, now I like everybody even more! I think a WPF party would be fabulous, my place is open as well, 2 bedr, sleeps 6 to 10 depending on how close we want to get... I live 30min from San Francisco across the bay.
Yes, funding is a must. How about turning this website into a money machine. It seems to get enough readers to be worth a few dollars to advertising companies. I don't know much about this, but will try to find somebody who does.
Love and Happy Solstice,
Ingrid

Thanks M for sharing the pic. Naturally, I always shudder when I see one of myself. I never look like the same person twice in photos (I finally put one up in my bio)...and sometimes barely recognize myself! The one of you (yes, the one with your butt stuck out) is darling. You're just too much, dear! And thanks for memorializing the reading w/pics.

I think that it could be sticky trying to get everyone time off at the same time--from jobs, obligations, whatever. In any case, a wonderful idea and one I hope we'll all be able to pull off in the not so distant future. Also, if anyone simply can't afford their "share" of the travel expenses, perhaps those with deeper pockets could help them out. Would seem a shame for someone to miss out on all the fun simply for financial reasons.

Best,

Teresa

About the WPF party: I got an idea ....

Couldn't we have Fred's Mother Ship pick us up one by one (yeah... it's alien abduction I'm talking about), transport us to the party site - or, waitamo' - couldn't we simply have the party on board the Mother Ship?

Everyone knows what Mother Ships and their operators are capable of in the way of Hypertime Overdrive (no, it's called something else, and I forgot; it's in the Hitchhiker's Guide) ... so the time factor should be no problem.

Only thing we need is Someone's cooperation.
And, of course, the more timid of us (i.e. all of us) may want guarantee of safe return.
But don't let us get hung up on details. I'm sure something can be worked out.

Some of us could not. The Grand Council and several First Directives forbid it. And have you heard of the book "To Serve Man"?
