The United Nations has recently established an internet program called Free Rice. You can enhance your vocabulary by taking a series of quizzes. The advertisers donate grains of rice to feed the worlds hungry based on your correct answers.

It's fun and easy. Please spend a few moments of your time to help the starving.

Thank you.

This was a cool site! And a fun way to play with words. I turned my 9th grader on to it as well.

Thanks for the link.

best,

I gave it a try myself, Walter. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), I could easily become addicted to this. I keep surprising myself, fluctuating between not knowing words I should know and knowing words I've never consciously seen before. The system is very good at challenging you. It's a great way to improve your vocabulary while doing some good. And fun too! Thanks.

It is a wonderful site for a good cause...and a brush up on language/meaning.

I enjoyed and will keep it up and share with my friends and family.

Thank You, Morgan

Walter, this is so beautiful... In so many ways it is so meaningful and so beautiful. Of course how easy for me, you can guess :-) But I did too, it was really so fun and I noted all these words, I loved it. THANK YOU for sharing with us,

Thank you everyone who visited the site and contributed rice. As basic as it may seem, it is vitally important to so many people. It is also easy to cook and store.
I have seen young children sweep grains from a dirty street. That should never be necessary.
