Mystified. My e-mail notifications are totally erratic. I get some, not others. For instance, in the last week I've logged in several times to find responses to comments/postings that I had no idea were there. On the other hand, I receive tons of stuff on other people's postings - though, I notice, when I click on a link to read a thread, not all of THOSE either.

Just took a look at my profile and all the right e-mail notification boxes ARE checked. Also, Wild Poetry stuff is rarely sucked into my Spam Quarantine file: I keep a diligent watch and white-list every piece that does show up there. None of those recently 'gone missing' has been spotted in those quarters anyway.

Oh dear, what can the matter be?

Dearest bel -- The matter might be your internet service provider. Often they tag automated e-mails (which is what mails from Wild generated by your posts are) as junk, and they stop them right at their front door. Hence, the mail never even reaches your spam file. This doesn't catch everything, though, and that's why some of the mail is reaching you and some isn't.

There's nothing we can do about it. If it's really important to you, you can talk to your ISP about it and tell them to flag all mail from Wild as safe if they are capable of doing that.

Sorry about this inconvenience, but this is what happens as a result of trying to monitor and prevent junk mail from reaching our mailboxes. Some wanted mail gets caught in the very wide net by mistake.

Love,
M

Dear M, thanks for your response (I DID get an e-mail about your post, but not about the one from Derf!) Unfortunately, it's their front door
(my ISP's website) that I must visit to view quarantined stuff - this is never sent to my mail box. Yes, I can call them easily enough, but don't think they decide what to do with the e-mail being held (maybe 200-300 pieces per day). That's up to me. And sometimes they do block something I want because their screening system doesn't recognize an address, or the content is deemed 'suspicious' for one reason or another. That's when I add an address to the white-list.

But could I be causing this problem myself by frequently deleting cookies? I've got all kinds of fortresses, moats and drawbridges built into my security system. It's a wonder I hear from anybody!

Dear Derf, LOL

I wonder M because I too have the same difficulty. I always check the spam file and there is never any spam files. Plenty of sperm, but no spam. Wonder why I get some and not others?

Dearest All -- one more time for the cheap seats in the back. *LOL* As I said to bel:

Often your ISP (internet service provider) will tag automated e-mails (which is what e-mails from Wild generated by your posts are) as spam, and your ISP stops these e-mails right at their own front door. Hence, the mail never even reaches your mailbox (spam or inbox). They don't catch everything, though, and that's why some of the mail is reaching you and some isn't.

Specifically, if the mail is coming through frequently, for instance you've made quite a few comments at the same time generating quite a few automated mails from Wild, the sheer number of e-mails coming all at the same time makes your ISP think it's spam mail. Your ISP is blocking some, most, or all of it from ever reaching your mailboxes. It's a hit and miss thing, that's why some mail gets through and some doesn't. There is nothing you or we can do about this.

No, bel, deleting cookies has nothing to do with this issue. There is no fix, unless you can talk your ISP into NOT blocking what it's misidentifying as spam. Sorry for the inconvenience of all this, folks.

Love,
M

Ooops too. Never realized a lot of filtered e-mail doesn't even make the quarantined list - thought YOU were misunderstanding how my e-mail works! Anyway, looked at what I might change and was able to lower the spam filter setting. It was at the highest level. Now I'm experimenting with a much lower setting which my ISP describes as lenient. Let's see if this makes any difference! And if I can tolerate the inevitable increase in spam. Thanks M. Sorry to have dragged you out of bed (or whatever) for nothing.

YAY, M and the gang have come in the Mystery Machine and solved another one. I was curious about this as well, but I have just learned just to check my posts every so often. To be fair, I do get most responses, but every once in a while some do not come through. I guess now we all know why. Thank you for the info M, you take care!

Cheers!

No problem, everyone. I used to be a teacher, so I am very comfortable with repeating myself or modifying and redefining my answers and restating them another way until my students understand. Very few people get it the first time you say something. It's fun to watch the lightbulbs come on. *grin*

Glad to have cleared up this mystery for you. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. That's what the staff of Wild is here for. Make us earn our pay. *chuckle*

Love,
M
