I never have to log in as my browser remembers the 'cookie' I've set from ages ago. (using firefox, not IE) You may want to log out, clear your browser cache and history files, then log in. Many browsers will give you an option to 'remember me on this computer' or some such. If you say 'yes' it will set a cookie and you should be able to stay logged in. Since we are a public site and membership is not required to read, we don't ask for log-ins until you post. unfortunately, typing in your username and password to post a message does not log you in.
