Dear Membership -- just wanted to give you a brief warning. Day before yesterday, an unregistered guest left a post with a bunch of links in it that generated pernicious popups and some kind of AOL page when you clicked on it.

While we have tried to sew up every unauthorized entry point into Wild, every once in a while unregistered people will find one. Please approach these posts (instead of a regular username, the post will be accompanied by the "Unregistered Guest" ID on the left side where the username usually is) with caution until we have a chance to remove them. And just to be safe, don't click on any links unless they are posted by a registered member.

Thanks, folks!

Love,
M (Administrator)

Hi M

Thanks for the warning, M. There are always troublemakers around unfortunately. Keep the defenses up!

All my best

The poor fellow who discovered the intruder was me. I made the mistake of clicking on one of the links.

POW!

It took about sixty keystrokes to free myself from all the popups and other invaders. Then I ran a Norton 2006 virus scan.

Then I did 100 fingertip pushups.

Later, a fellow from Homeland Security came to me and asked why I didn't support our troops.

Thinks are getting crazier.

Ouch, Fred. We had a major problem about a year and a half ago with a browser hijack virus. It took us WEEKS to disinfect the laptop. Now I use firefox rather than IE. (The virus that nailed us used an IE vulnerability)

best,

OK it's good to see you are doing your best to warn people and stop this.

Aaaargh, sorry to hear of your trouble, Fred. These troublemakers seem to be getting into every website these days. Just more proof that we do need to remain ever vigilant! :-(

Chris, I spoke with Gino and Marcello, the infamous poetry goons. They said they'd have a little talk with the "unregistered guest" in exchange for a copy of What Work Is by Philip Levine.

What a deal!
