Dear Membership -- yes, before you even say so, we are probably just as weary of typing these update messages (and dealing with the many Nehi-flavored issues behind the scenes) as you are of reading them. But the good news is that our 40 days of wandering in the desert are nearly over. As of right this minute (cannot guarantee this info will be valid a minute from now, but I'll just come back and update you again *sigh*), the old Wild will be disabled on Wednesday, Sept. 13th and the new Wild will be up and running on the new server that same date. By disabled, we mean you will see a funky background color here and all threads will be closed to posting. That is if you even see this old site. Most of you whose ISPs update IP #s rapidly will never see the switch. You will just be taken to the new site automatically and never know it happened. Others of you who use ISPs who are slower to make these updates will get taken here by mistake. If that's the case, you will see some pretty funky thangs going on. If this happens, just re-enter www.wildpoetryforum.com on the address line, and you should be taken to the new site. Bookmark it once you get there and you'll never see the old site again. We are doing as much as we can to stabilize things while we're working on it. Still, some members have noticed and will continue to notice some inconsistencies. We apologize for this, but we didn't want to shut down Wild. None of the weirdness that's happening is critical, so we wanted to keep the site open and operable for you. We assumed having a few blips would be better than having no site at all. Sorry to all who are convinced they're hallucinating. Nope, you're not. *smile* Again, moving day is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 13th. Your patience from now through that day and for a few days afterward while we straighten out any unanticipated problems that might occur will be most appreciated. Love, M (Administrator)

Dear Membership -- well, remember how I said this information would be valid for the moment, but I couldn't guarantee that it would remain valid? Well, I wasn't lying. Scratch everything I said up there. When I posted that information, we had just received notification that everything had been accepted and that it would take 24-48 hours to initiate the switch. Right after I posted that, the switch took place (within 3 hours, not 24-48). So, the plan to have this all happen on Wednesday went right down the tubes. The switch to the new server has occurred. steve has spent the whole evening updating everything that was posted over the weekend and today. And made sure the user profiles are in order, so everyone should be able to post normally. If you are having any difficulties with your membership (username/password), just let us know. A couple of people posted a few things while he was updating files. Unfortunately, those two or three posts were lost. If you posted something and it is no longer on the boards, please feel free to re-post it and please accept our apologies for the loss. We were not expecting this to happen so soon, so there are a few details that still need to be cleaned up. A few broken links and so forth (mostly things on the left-hand menu over there like the BookShop, FAQs, etc.). steve will fix those broken links tomorrow, so there is no need to notify us about broken links. As always, we recommend that you keep copies of your posted poems. We cannot guarantee as yet that everything is working flawlessly. But most areas should be good enough to hold you all until tomorrow. Again, thanks for your patience. And if you hear of people unable to find us for some reason, tell them to enter www.wildpoetryforum.com on the address line, and bookmark us once they get here. Welcome to the new old Wild! Hi M and Steve Glad to know the transition was successful even though it took you by surprise by occurring prematurely! Keep up the good work, Steve and M. Hmm. This universe looks a lot like the old one. Are you sure we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto? Thanks to our tireless leaders with their flashlights and screwdrivers. It's dark in the bowels of cyberspace. Jana

I know you said we didn't need to notify you of broken links. But would someone please find out why, in my profile, my gender is now "Peeps, the leopard gecko," and my hair color is "classical, jazz and folk"? Jana

Yes, the profiles need to be repaired. My age is "M". I have two problems with this. (1) I am older than ~M~. (2) In Roman Numerals, M = 1000. The last time I checked I was a few years younger than that. The Ancient One |

earest red -- ot ystem rror r omething ith our omputer. his appens hen ou moke oo uch eed nd rink oo uch ack aniels. top moking eed nd rinking ack aniels! ither o ne r he ther, ut ot oth, illy an! Dearest Chris -- yep, don't ya' just hate premature transitioners? Three hours is not enough time. I deserve more foreplay than that! *LOL* Dearest Peeps, the leopard gecko -- Your profile changes are not an error. steve is so omnipotent, he actually added a new gender to the human race with one hand while he transfered Wild to a new server with the other (I just love a multi-tasking man!). We hope that this stops all the fighting over gender bias. As for your new hair color, I'm afraid that was my fault. The box said classical. Damn that Clairol! I will buy a jazz and folk remover immediately. Sorry for the dye mix-up! But I do think it looks lovely on you, dear. It goes so well with your John Rezmerski, Lucille Clifton eyes. *shhhhh, don't anyone say anything about Jana's hair until we get it fixed!* Dearest "Fred" (we know you are an imposter as the eal red s issing is irst etters) -- so sorry about the profile error. Of course, it was supposed to be "D," not "M." How ridiculous! Everyone knows the only one who's M-years-old is me. Well, really M + I, but don't tell anybody. AARP will start sending me junk mail. Dearest All -- yes, we are aware of the profile screw-ups. It seems steve must have stirred the ingredients in that pot a little too well. *rolling eyeballs* I will alert him to this as soon as he gets home. He stayed up until midnight trying to fix Wild as well as he could, then had to leave for work at 4:00 this morning. I believe he's getting home about 2:00 p.m. and will leave for work again at 7:00 p.m. Don't know if he'll have time to fix this in between (he's got to sleep sometime), so it might not be until tomorrow for profile fixes. Thanks for your patience. Love, M |

Hi Steve and M - well I don't know if I need to wait until tomorrow, but I'm not getting any emails (well, I did get two today, instead of the usual 70 or so), so just wondering if this is something that will take care of itself by Wild magic? Thank you! penny (-:= Let us so live that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry. - Mark Twain.

Dearest penny -- if you got two, then my guess is the rest will be on the way. Sometimes there's a slowdown and then they come flooding in. Give it a day and then let us know. Dearest Fred -- and here I've been telling steve for months that you were a 2 x 4. I must have misheard you when you whacked me in the back of the head. steve is currently playing Sleepy. I have to wake him in an hour and send him Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work we go. I'll remind him to play Doc when he comes home after midnight. Unless, of course, he's turned into a pumpkin. Come to think of it, that playing doctor thing doesn't sound too bad . . . hmmmm, I'm gettin' idears . . . you may just have to be an 11-02-xx until tomorrow morning. How much does an 11-02-xx make, BTW? I may just want to change careers. Love, Dopey |

Mr. B -- You need to clear everything. Re-enter www.wildpoetryforum.com on address line. Once you're here, re-bookmark. Then close window. Use bookmark to come into Wild again. Then see if things are working properly with your username/password. If not, let us know. And be specific. Obviously, you're still able to post. What exactly is the problem? Love, M |
