Dear Poetry Fans,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

If you've seen my posts of the past couple days, you can guess two of the stories included in this week's P&P in Rags. It used to be, before Great Regulars, that the shortlist from The Guardian's "Poetry workshop" was an automatic headliner. What can compete with such poetry with such commentary? But this week, we begin in New Orleans and Katrina--which is, coincidentally, where we end in Poetic Obituaries, where you will find news of some significant deaths this week in the world of poetry.

More coincidence--the theme that shot through some of our articles had to do with difficult childhoods of the poets, to the degree that, for pacing sake, I broke up this thread of stories instead of stringing them together. In between, comes articles with whole poems in them.

It's National Poetry Month in US and Canada, and the newspapers know it. It's a good issue.

Yours,
Rus

Rus, Does anyone know why the IBPC announcement is so delayed?

It seems very long this time.

Laurie

Hi Laurie,

It is a very long time, and I'm on it. I found out about the delay yesterday, getting into the IBPC board's e-mail loop with other IBPC details, and began communications. The only thing I cannot do is judge.

The directors, specifically Cherilyn, have a fine Plan B waiting to go if things don't pan out. She's good, very good.

Yours,
Rus

It won't be too much longer.
