Dear Poetry Fans,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

Last week, in our Great Regulars section, we linked to an article by CS Lewis. This week, we link to one by GK Chesterton. These sections of essays and writings by masters of the past, have been coming to us via the Daily Times in Pakistan, for some years now. And what a great name for their great column: Purple Patch.

Several stories this week deal with political troubles in the world. Two of these articles have to do with child poet/leaders. Our headliner, however, is about an aging poet/journalist in Insein Prison. But there are other political troubles, such as within the women's movement, and of wars, that we penetrate with poetry and poets this week.

Many of our articles are about must-read books that have hit the market. Not only will you find some to put on your reading list in our News at Eleven section, where, for instance you'll find a review of Louise Gluck's latest, but be sure to check out the Frank Wilson link in our Great Regulars section.

Thanks for clicking in.

Yours,
Rus
