Dear Poetry Fans,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

This week again, the back page is taken by an article sent to me. My thanks go to Michael Virga from, among other forums, The Writer's Block.

The last few weeks, I have wanted to mention our "Great Regulars" from newspapers that accept poetry submissions. My thought is that if a newspaper is calling for poetry submissions on a regular basis, then that's automatically "great." This week, we have a new arrival in this category, The Jerusalem Post. And Cafe Oreh there seems to accept submissions from all over. This is like Sarah Crown and The Guardian's monthly "Poetry workshop," the shortlist of which we await for this past month.

We have two others These accept submitted poems from poets either from their area in some way, or visiting the area. Acton MA's Beacon Journal is one--and we have yet to read a poem from Franz Wright's town south of here. The other is Bill Diskin's Poetryork, a very active column from York PA.

We are all over the globe this week. The articles are so assorted, that it was difficult at times to keep a chain of thought from one to the next. You'll catch me reaching. As usual with the news, we have some intense, even gory, stuff. Some are delightful, though. We begin with some real fine poetry in our headliner. Check it out.

Yours,
Rus
