Dear Poetry Fans,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

"The IBPC Judge" page at http://www.webdelsol.com/IBPC/judges.html has the header "Special Guest Judge Frank Wilson". Our poems are in good hands this month, as Frank is the book review editor of The Philadelphia Inquirer. He extended his hand of friendship to our IBPCommunity over a month ago, saying he would fill in as needed, after Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, making it impossible for Dave Brinks to continue as our judge. Frank Wilson has had Poetry & Poets in Rags linked from the books page and I've had both his blog and the books page bookmarked for some time. Here is Books Inq: http://booksinq.blogspot.com/2005/04/blogging-saga.html and notice there how he has our main IBPC page linked.

Another good friend of ours, Sarah Crown, the books editor of The Guardian, who was our guest judge last month, has been very busy producing such quality work, that I cannot help but think how gracious she was to fit our IBPC contest into her recent schedule. This week, there are so many good articles coming from the books section of The Guardian, that I needed a slight of hand to keep P&P in Rags links to The Guardian this week down to a mere five. Our headliner is the main links page at The Guardian for "Forward Prize 2005" instead of most of the articles there. I picture many of you clicking on that link, and not returning for the other articles in P&P in Rags. I don't blame you. It may be the best link of poetry ever put onto the net on short notice, as good as many fine print reviews put out in a full issue of their quarterlies, an internet event that should not gone unnoticed.

But, yes, please return after you're done with the headliner. We have some important news to return to. In fact, bookmark that headliner for future reference.

I was thinking how I have my favorite poetry forum as my homepage on my computer. Maybe for a while, I should use Poetry & Poets in Rags. It has not only the news, but links to the forums too. Or, maybe the poetry genre page of The Guardian's books or the books page of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Thanks to Sarah and Frank for all they do for us and online poetry.

Speaking of bookmarks, it is time to welcome another great poetry forum to our IBPCommunity. For some weeks, you may have noticed "Inside the Writer's Studio" linked from our IBPC pages. As of this month, that forum will take full membership, entering poems into our monthly competition. Welcome Inside the Writer's Studio, and click in here to check them out: http://www.rachelmallino.org/ .

Yours,
Rus

Rus--I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate the work you do in putting together P&P in Rags. I don't get a chance to read it every week, but when I do read it, I always gain from the experience. I appreciate it when I am introduced to poets whose work I don't know.

So thank you!

best,
ljc
