Dear Poetry Fans,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

Welcome Penshells! They are the latest poetry forum to join our IBPCommunity, a terrific group of poets. Check them out for sure. I have been posting P&P in Rags there for some time now, and it will be a pleasure for me to have them in the discussion loops.

We begin with a report from the research on how TS Eliot put The Waste Land together. After that, our articles present a matrix of interlocking themes, that made the linear sequencing 1 through 12 tricky. Among these themes are the poet in nature, and the poet alone.

Our back page, then, turns the world onto its seedy side, where people don't get left alone. My thanks to Christine Klocek-Lim, who sent me the LA Times link to this article, and who stayed there for me as I formulated whether I would bring the story to you. My apologies, though, to Jorie Graham for promoting the linking of her name with those who have apparently unjustifiably, at least insubstantially, attacked a great poet and teacher, and brought her name out where she would not want it to be. This type of reporting isn't good per se, to link accused with accuser, but how else should this news be presented? You'll see. And this is also why we have twelve articles instead of eleven: I did not want the final article to bump off any other of the fine articles during the cuts, but just wanted to bring this news story to you, as it has taken shaped and focus thus far.

Yours,
Rus
