Dear Poetry Fans,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

Memorial Day in the USA just yesterday, and the 60th anniversary of VE Day earlier this month, caused several excellent articles on war poetry and poets to be published on line this past week. Following our usual eleven articles, we have a special addendum section called "Remembering War Poets Who Remembered," which links to the top five of these articles. You will not want to miss the poetry, which includes poppies of course, nor the poets' profiles. It is a high-quality section. Per chance, we headline that section with an obituary of a war poet who just died this past week.

Poets' profiles. More than any week I can remember, this is what we have for so many of our main eleven stories, some short, some long, all very well done. As usual, I try to group by theme and sub-theme, even loose theme, and this week the Catholic church's influence on certain poets came up--so I mention it. So you've already guessed Hopkins is one and you are correct.

It's a great week for poets and poetry in the news. Thanks for clicking in.

Yours,
Rus
