Dear Poetry Aficionados, Poetry & Poets in Rags blog We begin this week's list of news links with Derek Walcott withdrawing from contention to be Oxford Professor of Poetry. Old news about him began strategically re-circulating with the vote coming Saturday. We also have the Than Shwe dictatorship in Burma withholding medical treatment from their democratically elected Prime Minister, and Nobel Peace Prize-winning opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi. They've arrested her doctor and won't let her see her lawyer. Lots more this week too, including insightful reviews and articles on poetry, some fresh new poems just published, some old ones revisited, and some translated.
