As fairly much a beginner, I intend to keep myself mostly to the Sublaxation forum and suchlike, but I just read a poem in biofeedback and a couple of points occurred to me - was I ok to post them there, or should I wait more until I know what I'm talking about? Apologies if I butted in...

As far as I understand the rules around here, you're perfectly "qualified" to post anywhere that a member of your standing can post -- in other words, a non-moderator, and therefore you were perfectly in the right.

I just read your post and there's nothing wrong with it. However, I'd suggest in the future you email a moderator -- I've done it, they won't bite, in fact the mod I spoke to was very nice. Also, the FAQ on the front page is pretty helpful.

But don't worry, ya done good.

In here, at least, any and all feedback is welcome. it isnt just 'knowing what I'm talking about', it's also "wishing to comment".

Ah, ok, thanks for the clarification. The FAQ seemed mostly about posting poems and I wasn't getting a clear message about posting comments. I stuck my toe in another online workshop recently where they were, I thought, very unpleasant to those who stuck their oar in where they shouldn't! so I didn't want to offend. So far I'm finding this site very helpful and friendly. Thanks.

Ros -- I probably know of which forum you speak -- and I'd like to suggest (as a fellow new member) that Wild seems quite different than any poetry workshop environment I've seen on the internet. People seem genuinely happy with other's participation, which is a nice fresh breath for me. Just jump right in, let's do.

I agree with W.F; some places are pretty snotty about beginners and folks who "belong" and there's a period of having to prove oneself before you're actually allowed to Speak.

Which is why Im here, too. The other very cool thing is, you don't get the sense of high drama whizzing above your head (or sometimes wrapping itself around your ankles) that you do on a few other forums; it can be amazingly distracting.

In here, it's the work that gets critiqued, not the writer, and there is usually plenty of time to discuss the poem itself, or related things, and that can often open doors to other ideas, too.

You can post a poem in any forum with the exception of Therapeutic Touch. As well, you can comment on a poem in any forum.

If your comments or poems don't "fit," the Men in Black (or, even scarier, the Women in Black) won't spirit you away. They'll just gently tell you so.

One note: if you post a poem in a forum, you should be willing to comment on others' poems in that same forum.

Best,

again, don't feel pressured to post something to ALL the new posted work. I think the general rule is, comment twice, post your work once.

Hi Ros

thx for posting this question. we revisit this every so often.

As a poet, we should all be grateful for any feedback we receive on our work. A poem is experienced in as many ways as there are readers so all views are valuable (or should be).

A comment is a gift just as precious as a poem, thank you for yours.

warmly

I feel very priviledged to get a warm and fuzzy answer! Thanks greatly, all. I shall jump in with both feet and try not to splash you all too much. I've already had a lot of fun with this recent week's challenge.
(The poems here are better than that other place anyway, so ya boo... :-))
