Dear Poetry Aficionados,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

This week, I leave an intriguing News at Eleven section to your discovery, only to note that we begin with new poems and that we take a look at familiar poets and themes from fresh angles. I'll note also that the Poetic Obituaries section is unusually long.

We have a new Great Regular this week, Mick Imlah. He is the poetry editor of the Times Literary Supplement. I've been noticing for however many weeks, that he intruduces the Poem of the Week there. So in a sense, for most weeks to come, all this does is move the Great Regulars Poem of the Week link from TLS up in order between Garrison Keillor and Frieda Hughes, instead of following the weekly poem from Slate at the end of that section. Yet, whenever he writes an article that I can find, you'll find it in Great Regulars as well.

They've been busy at The Guardian with their poetry workshop. This week, Peter Bennet's shortlist for December came out, followed closely by Jean Sprackland's workshop for January. If you love to write poetry and take walks too, her workshop is perfect for you.

For you IBPC forum members, there may soon be a recall for November. I don't know. Turns out, Gina Bryson only has 11 poems to be sent to E. Ethelbert Miller, and is scouring the spam to see if there are any others to group with them.

Thanks for clicking in. Have a great week.

Yours,
Rus
