I hadn't realized they'd enriched and expanded the site until I read "CODA" on the inside back page of the latest issue of Poets & Writers.

Hot stuff. A stellar resource.

Don't forget that poets with the requisite number of publication credits can be listed in their directory:

http://www.pw.org/directory/featured

I am occasionally contacted by people who find me through my Poets & Writer's listing & if anyone ever wants you do do a reading and wants to apply for a Poets & Writer's Grant to pay you a speaker's fee, once you are listed, the application process is easy.

Thanks, Freddie. For once, a link you listed actually worked when I clicked on it. Imagine my surprise.

Seriously, great site and much appreciation for the nudge to visit it again.

I've snagged a couple readings gigs through my directory listing, too. The revamped site's good. I used to be a regular at the Speakeasy (forums)but had to leave because there there was a period of major turmoil I couldn't dig. I haven't been back in ages to see how / if the dust settled.

Worth checking out, I spose.

This is utterly changing the subject . . . but Ira Glass's radio vignettes This American Life are absolutely brilliant.

Sunday, I put in my application at www.pw.org to be designated an "official poet." Still no word. Sigh.

Dearest Derf -- You have not heard back because you left out vital information on your application. You are Derf, official poet, unofficial forum pariah, recent victim of alien abduction. If you leave out critical information from your title, it's no wonder people don't respond ASAP. You think Sharon Olds forgets to put Olds after Sharon? You must alert them to the fact that they are dealing with greatness here. Then they will hop to it pronto. Or is that Tonto?

Maybe the staff fainted at the thought of such an oversight when they realized that you weren't already listed?

It has been five days now. According to dubious sources, the world was created in seven days. Maybe I put in too many publishing credits. Maybe my appearance in Stirring has them up in arms.

"This creep couldn't have appeared in Stirring. Why that's edited by . . . and they would NEVER have accepted his tripe."

Sigh.

Dearest Listless -- perhaps the world was created in seven days, but if there was more than one member on that committee, we'd still be waiting. Listen to this. We've been working with a contractor to remodel our bathroom since August. So far for our $8,000, he has given us seven hundred different plans (none of which could be approved by the city) and reverted back to the original plan (which we gave him). At least, you still have your appearance in Stirring, though I doubt you could get $8,000 for it (but you might want to talk to our contractor -- maybe he could work out something that no city would approve).

Go do something else. A watched pot (or contractor) never boils.

Fred -

I second M. Why not something completely crazy like a science fiction convention? I'm doing a science fiction poetry workshop tomorrow afternoon at ConDor at the Handelry Hotel in San Diego tomorrow.

Terrie Relf and Billie Dee and Scott Virtes will also be there.
