Dear Poetry Aficionados, Poetry & Poets in Rags Congratulations are in order. First, to the 1990 Pulitzer Prize winner in poetry, Charles Simic, for his appointment as US Poet Laureate. This is our lead story, and is further covered by Great Regulars Sarah Crown and Jay Parini. Check out the Back Page of News at Eleven also. Poet Byakul Maila is due congratulations for having his lyrics chosen for Nepal's new national anthem, officially set to music, and approved by Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and his ministers. I embedded the YouTube post of the new anthem into its P&P in Rags blog post. We in the InterBoard Poetry Community, have 1990 Pulitzer Prize nominee in poetry (coincidentally), Maurya Simon, of the Creative Writing Program at UC Riverside to thank for July's poetry competition results.
