Dear Poetry Aficionados,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

I was waiting for David Ayers to publish this week's column, but he is delayed. And, for over three hours now, I have been unable to post at the Poetry & Poet in Rags blog. The last article to post there, our headliner of love poetry, kept bringing me back to a sign-on screen. Now I don't even get the word verification to copy. So here is our Valentines Day headliner.

I've chosen two poems--"For What Binds Us," by Jane Hirshfield, and "Touch Me," by former U.S. Poet Laureate Stanley Kunitz--that seem to complement each other.

We have lots of love within both our Great Regulars and News at Eleven sections. It's also a guy week, it seems, more than usual. Note too that Terry Eagleton is back in Great Regulars. I found his "How to Read a Poem: Part Three" from last week, and this week's part four as well. They cover rhythm, tone, and mood. Even that seems fitting.

But, we do have some contentious news, and heart-breaking deaths in Poetic Obituaries to know about. Those in News at Eleven, are nearer to the end, not for them being unimportant, but only to lead with love.

Love,
Rus
