Dear Poetry Fans,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

It's National Poetry Month in the US, and we have a jam-packed issue, with the largest Great Regulars section yet. And lots and lots of whole poems, in Great Regulars, but also News at Eleven.

We headline, however, with a story announcing the best poetry from New Zealand from 2005. The article links to the entire issue of poems. How about that? You'd better order out. To continue the roll, the next half dozen stories in News at Eleven, all contain complete poems. Good ones too.

This week, we add two "regulars" to our Great Regulars, both long overdue: Andrew Motion, who we usually find in The Guardian, and David Orr who writes the On Poetry section for the New York Times.

As with each week, be sure to check out our Back Page article, #11 in News at Eleven, and peruse the Poetic Obituaries.

Yours,
Rus
