I just watched the movie this evening and if you haven't seen it, please do. An absolutely beautiful film about the power of belief and imagination. I wept through the last half hour. the only problem is i've given up johnny depp, and fail to see the his attributes I've also told John Malkovich "goodbye" daniel day lewis is history I stopped speaking to Viggo and Gabriel Byrnes is in danger of losing me. It's all about Ralph Fiennes now, and his brother Joe. last night, we watched an upsetting movie, "spider" superbly acted and mike said "please don't bring home another one of those." to which I said "ralph? he's my next ex-husband. Get used to it. I also like my new brother in law, Joe, and you'll be writing me via England from now on" Mike rolled over and went back to sleep. I think I got him very worried, now. Hi Laurie You are a very funny dame. I like your musings on your actor interests.  Have you seen Ralph Fiennes in "Onegin" -- I would recommend it if you have not. The DVD also has some interesting comments by the actors, director, etc. The director was Martha Fiennes, his sister, and the other actors have something to say about how brother and sister worked together. I need to catch up on "Rafe's" recent work. Hi Lisa I need to check out "Finding Neverland" and will do so soon. It intrigues me and corresponds to the era I am interested in with my Jack the Ripper interests. I am not sure that the J. M. Barrie portrayed by Johnny Depp corresponds to the historical Barrie... though it possibly is not as far off the mark as the Hughes Brothers film "From Hell" where Depp's Abberline was a travesty of the historical Chief Inspector George Frederick Abberline. Michael Caine's portrayal of the detective in the 1988 film "Jack the Ripper" was more on the mark for the historical Abberline even if Caine's portrayal was of a drunk not a heroin addict with extrasensory powers as Depp's portrayal had it! The story alone is wonderful, and I cannot seem to (thankfully) get enough of Peter Pan and all the versions. Depp is strange, I like strange. ((grin)) But as far as marriage, hands down, Billy Bob Thorton. LOL see? I like strange. My big fantasy though, would be a tea party with Rita Dove, Louise Gluck and Margaret Atwood. We'd discuss Sexton while Billy Collins served us tea. Later, I'd go home and Billy Bob and I would argue over Ron Howard's genius. (((smile))) Karen | ||

haha laughing I've met Rita Dove, she's pretty mild. I could see Billy fetching and carrying though, I gave him muffins once, he seemed like the "i'll put on the kettle" kind of man and haha Yes, Rafe and I have discussed his English name, and I even call him Ra from time to time, after all, he is a God, isn't he? peace all laurie |
