Dear Poetry Fans,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

Some super articles this week in "News at Eleven." You'll have some reading and thinking to do in there. Also, last week, we linked to a Village Soup column of Elizabeth Garber, the poet laureate of Belfast, Maine. Turns out, that's a series. And so this week, we have the next installment, but from our "Great Regulars" section.

With all we have going this week, this may seem like an oddball note. It must seem obvious to you that there are articles out there on great world poets that get bumped by more interesting articles on lesser poets. This is because, as with writing poetry, the quality of writing counts for so much. With the news more than poetry, though, sometimes it is the news of it that must take precedence. Since we've had the "Poetic Obituary" section, it has been the case that the news of a death takes precedence over whether the obit is well-written. Find the one on the cowboy poet this week. It hooks me in like a good piece of writing.

Yours,
Rus
