Dear Poetry Fans,

Poetry & Poets in Rags

We have poetry big time this week. Our links to the articles with poems tend to be up front, including our headliner, which is a poem without comment. (And talk about getting news from poetry.) Note too that the one about the Vietnam nurse has links, and one link at the end of the article is to her poetry, which opens onto a Wordpad or whatever you use for documents.

With Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt making separate poetry news this week, and Olivia Newton-John cutting a new album with poetry, we have a special four-part section called "Poetry Going Big Time." Our back page item on Shakespeare in our regular section is a terrific article in itself, but a great lead-in to the first article in our special section on Kerouac. They were both intense writers.

Speaking of going big time, our current IBPC judge is Dave Brinks of New Orleans. Not only does he do some poetry elbow rubbing as the proprietor of the famous Gold Mine Saloon, publish a real fine periodical YAWP, and write terrific poetry himself, but he's a great guy to boot. If you're a poet and in New Orleans, going to his place is a must.

Still speaking of going big time, poets from Wild Poetry Forum have just published their first anthology under the Wild Poetry Press label. Check out Poets Gone Wild. This will soon be announced by IBPC Newswire, our community's place for such notes. And if you haven't noticed, David Cazden has a book you can find out about there called "Moving Picture." Once on the Newswire page, keep scrolling for what's going on, but keep adding to it. Let Gina know of your publications and such.

Yours,
Rus

Thanks for the plug, Rus. You brought tears to my eyes because I know doing this is difficult for you. I can't thank you enough for taking that chance.

Love,
M
